Demand response is a way of modifying consumer demand for electricity, primarily by offering financial incentives. The idea is to encourage users to consume less energy during peak hours, thereby allowing power companies to manage the supply more efficiently.
We are establishing demand response contracts with industrial and commercial customers to learn to what extent different demand response initiatives can influence customers to minimise periods of ‘peak demand’, helping to reduce the cost and carbon footprint of running the electricity network.
Taking part in the trial offers many benefits to businesses and to the Low Carbon London ambition.
Our Low Carbon London partners Flexitricity, EnerNOC and EDF Energy are working to sign up London-based industrial and commercial companies to take part in the trial.
